In the humorous Valjiir Universe fanfic, "Kiss the Cook," the ship's psychologist suggests a cooking contest to help the crew deal with the boredom of a mission that requires them to make an extended crossing of a "space desert." To add extra spice, the contest is open to male crewmembers only.
